About

The unfetter of the abandoned landscape, spaces with random topography, the calm and chaos of an unlivable, dilapidated space are the situations of intrigue on the roads I travel and paint. The work is primarily in acrylic paint while using different media to bring a layered or tactile look. For a long time fabric was incorporated to bring a relief to the image but this has transitioned to other more subtle effects using elements of paper and acrylic medium. The resulting texture is the topography, and with the imagery, each painting is meant to create a pathway to explore in a new way.

Paintings are created on handmade gallery wrapped stretched canvas with a 2 inch wide profile. Depending on the imagery, the painting extends on the sizes of the profile edge. Each piece is created with acrylic paint over paper. Some of the work has the addition of original graphite drawings which are either drawn on the canvas or added with gel medium.
